The winner is Carlos Saenz from Austin, Texas. Although not required, Carlos has purchased CHOCbite bars, his favorite being the self named “Spicy Hawaiian Elvis” CHOCbite bar which was CHOCwhite with peanut butter chips, cayenne pepper, macadamia nuts, banana chips AND crispy rice.
On May 6th, 2002, I was in Las Vegas, NV, at the Horseshoe Casino, playing in my first (and last) major poker tournament. You see, I am a poker player, but, not a tournament player but a live game player. On this particular day, along with 538 other people, I decided to play in a World Series Poker Event, Texas Hold’em. The buy in was $1,500, but, I had played a satelite to get in for $150. I remember thinking, wow, this tournament thing takes stamina! It was a two day event! I found myself bored throughout the event, rocking my chair back and forth. On the second day, at the final table, I got knocked out, by Johnny Chan, for 8th place and $13,400. Now, I know what you are saying, “Not a bad return on investment”!!! It was a great experience sitting at the table with all these big names in poker.
We don’t really know what was in young Harry Potter’s Goblet of Fire…but listen to what is in Karen’s — wasabi peanuts, key lime candy flakes, cinnamon and caramel! Hmmm…intrigued yet?
If so, travel back with us to medieval times and the court of Louis XIV. It is said that he once owned vines in the village of Volnay and so admired these wines that he demanded the entire harvest of 1477 for the royal court. Well, much like this cultured monarch of France, Karen insists on having only the finer things in life…like CHOCbite and Nicolas Potel Vieilles Vignes 1998 (which her husband has banished to the closet, like the Man In The Iron Mask).
So…no “Three Musketeers” for her, except maybe to liberate that wine from its current exile. We raise our chalice in camaraderie, Karen…and tell your husband to come out of the closet and bring that 1998 Volnay with him!
There is a new CHOCtop in town! It is the Blue Diamond Habanero BBQ Almond! Spicy, yet sweet! (Just like me) LOL.
Just got this e-mail and love it;
One Light Bulb at a Time
A physics teacher in high school, once told the students that while one grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn’t slow a train very much, a billion of them would. With that thought in mind, read the following, obviously written by a good American …
Good idea … One light bulb at a time . . . .
Check this out . I can verify this because I was in Lowes the other day for some reason and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose attachments . They were all made in China.
The next day I was in Ace Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the hose attachments there. They were made in USA . Start looking ..
In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else – even their job . So, after reading this email, I think this lady is on the right track . Let’s get behind her!
My grandson likes Hershey’s candy . I noticed, though, that it is marked made in Mexico now.. I do not buy it any more.
My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico … Now I have switched to Crest. You have to read the labels on everything ..
This past weekend I was at Kroger. I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets . I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off-brand labeled, “Everyday Value .. ” I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats – they were the same except for the price ..
The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in – get ready for this – the USA in a company in Cleveland , Ohio .
So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here ..
So on to another aisle – Bounce Dryer Sheets . .. . Yep, you guessed it, bounce cost more money and is made in Canada . The Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at almost half the price!
My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA – the job you save may be your own or your neighbors!
If you accept the challenge, pass tell all your friends so we can all start buying American, one light bulb (or CHOCbite bar, ok, so I added this bit in) at a time! Stop buying from overseas companies!
(We should have awakened a decade ago .. . .. . . . )
Let’s get with the program . . . .. Help our fellow Americans keep their jobs and create more jobs here in the U.S.A.
Have you played this fun game? I love it! Scrabble for the iPhone or your new iPad!
Woo hoo, the iPad arrived today, it is freshly sitting in it’s box. It is akin to receiving the delightful CHOCbite box. Neat, tidy, delicious and super sexy, except, you can’t eat the iPad! Make sure that you enter the contest HERE asap, as the winner will be chosen at the end of the month!
Want some belly-reducing inspiration? You’ve all heard of Crush It. Well…our friend, Sara, has been motivated to Crunch It!
Just as Subway has Jared, CHOCbite has Sara! She is so encouraged by Adeline’s chocolate diet that she’s tossing her cookies (not THAT way, mind you) and keeping on track with her own eating regime – one little piece of CHOCbite at a time!
Sara shared with us that she plans to celebrate her daily weight loss success with some pretty cool combinations — milk chocolate with cashews and black cherries, and white chocolate with orange and poppy seed. Awesome!
Of course, she won’t forget to “pump it up” with a nice Reisling. So, like Sara always says, anything is better crunchy! And we agree… ABS-olutely!
Ladies and gentlemen… give it up for the sixth Spice Girl – Blueberry Spice – aptly named for her love of blueberry CHOCtops. According to People magazine, she found her thrill on Blueberry Hill while enjoying her favorites – spicy dark chocolate and a Cabernet Sauvignon! We don’t know about you, but we think Jolene is Spicylicious!
